        I had problems for AGES! with my Motorola VoiceSURFR 56k.. best
advice I was given was to ignore isapnptools (well.. use it for other cards
but don't initialize the modem)... and then use "setserial" to set it up..

        The trickiest bit with my PnP modem was finding out what settings
the modem was actually using (I installed a new bios in the end which gave
me them) but I'm sure someone else can help u out with that..

        I added a file to "/etc/rc.d" called "rc.serial" (which has the same
permisions as the other files in that directory)

        My rc.serial looks somic like (working from memory so I can't
remember all the dets sry)

        #!/bin/sh

        setserial /dev/cua0 <all my settings here>

        Hmm.. that wasn't the best of explanations but I think its kinda
right.

        Once I had these setserial lines in my setup all of a suddent ppp
worked... and guess what... its easy :)
