Everything breaks. The best way to upgrade between major versions of Red
Hat is by reinstalling.

Not really. The Linux RAID implementation works very well, as long as you
are not using SMP. (If you are, you should probably get one of the recent
2.1 kernels as it will more likely be more stable than the 2.0 series. :)
). Don't use it on IDE drives, it will actually reduce your performance.
Use striping rather than linear append mode if at all possible. Don't
take any wooden nickels. Just basic advice, really.
