ncftp will give on-the-fly speed info.

As for the fastest mirror, it will almost without a doubt be
redhat.newaol.com.  That sucker just flies.  AOL knows how to provide
bandwidth.

You can start by doing a ping to each one, but the only real way to know
is to start a transfer from each, one at a time, to see which is fastest
for you at that particular moment.

BTW, when following up earlier messages, please trim the irrelevant
content.  We really don't need to see multiple list signature blocks...
