After reading the Alcatel/OSS documentation ( http://linux-usb.sourceforge.net/SpeedTouch/howto.html )Im not really sure how to do this, but I you should be able to download the Alcatel drivers, untar them, make, make install. Then download the kernel mode driver ( http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=3581&release_id=50410 ) untar, make, make install.
They say you need some SAR library that has to be manually edited to point to you kernel config file, then fails because it uses a depricated include. If you feel lucky try downloading from here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=22221&release_id=41564 The go to They speak a lot about making sure hotplug works ( which I think is now standard in 8.0 ), and something about pppd which I dont understand at all. Basically I don't think a non-hacker could install this driver setup, and if I were you I'd complain loudly to Alcatel that you are a paying customer who want decent Linux drivers, and demand that they service you. :) On Sat, 2003-02-08 at 09:47, Aron Mangano wrote: > Hi > > Could one of you experts please tell me how to install an Alcatel USB modem on > Red Hat 8.
