In order to avoid annoying messages of the type
modprobe: Can't locate module sound-slot-0
on a machine with no sound card installed, I've added
alias sound-slot-0 off
to /etc/modules.conf. This seems to work rather well, but I'm still left
with a lot of
modprobe: Can't locate module sound-service-0-0
Why? How can I avoid these? I guess I could alias "sound-service-0-0" to
"off" as well, but why would that be necessary? I don't have an alias for
this module (just "sound-slot-0") on hosts that do have a soundcard.
