I've discovered hdparm. Haven't run it on my system that is yielding Had:timeout waiting for DMA Ide_dmaproc:chipset supported ide_dma_timeout function only:14
I'm still going through up2date with these errors showing up sporadically. Does this error indicate I should disable "using dma flag"? Or, does it indicate something about the read ahead cache? I'm pretty new to actually setting params for a hard drive. I suppose I could experiment, but as long as its taking up2date to finish with these errors, I thought someone here could clue me in sooner ;-).
