Hi list,
I have installed a new board/cpu/ram, and decided to do a clean install of
win/linux.
I installed linux, all went well, but then I thought to myself, I will try
out using software raid and see what performance gains I get. So I removed
the fresh install of linux, and re-did it trying to use the software raid.
Partitioning it all goes well, and no errors are given, and it formats all
o.k., but when it gets to the last step, when a progress bar comes up saying
preparing to install, it gets about 1cm into the bar, and then the computer
shuts down. I know it is not the computer as such, as windows is working
well (unfortunately I am in it now!), and the ordinary install of linux
worked no probs as well. It's just when I am selecting the software raid.
Partition setup is as follows:- (hda being a 80gig drive, hdc being a 40gig
drive)
hda1 - windows partition 7000mb
hda2 - /boot 102mb
hda3 - /software raid 18000mb
hda4 - /greg - rest of drive

hdc1 - windows partion 18000mb
hdc2 - /software raid 18000mb
hdc3 - /swap partition 1000mb

raid is device md0 mounted as ext3, / , 36000mb.

what am I doing wrong??

regards Greg
