I am running logcheck on some servers to report every hour any hacking attempts, however the automatically generated email is failing to be sent because instead of it coming from [EMAIL PROTECTED] it is being defaulted to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and the intervening sendmail servers are refusing to relay it because it isn't a valid domain name.
in both linuxconf and /etc/sysconfig/network the hostname with domain is set correctly
I have also gone into pine and set the config there but I didn't expect that to make a difference and it didn't :)
so where is root failing to pickup the domain that it is living in and thus (I assume) defaulting to localhost.localdomain
