i'm really sorry, but i'm terrible with X stuff.  i'm not quite sure what you 
mean.  xhost +localhost is a command?  and i have to put that somewhere in 
some x startup script?  if so, which one?  doesn't startx go thru like 3 
other files or something?  which one do i put it in?

do you mean i have to run the xhost command after the x server has started?
