If what you're really after is a mbx formatted inbox, you need to have a mbx
formatted mailbox named 'INBOX' in the home directory with correct
permissions.

Get the c-client suite of utils from the UW site
(http://www.washinton.edu/imap - from memory), you'll find mbxcreate and
mbxcvt which allow you to create an mbx mailbox and convert a mailbox to
mbx, respectively.
