Yes.  Actually if you're quick on the draw you can safely ignore this
warning whether your monitor is PnP or not as long as it is a multisync
monitor.  Almost all modern monitors are pretty flexible about that sort
of thing and I haven't heard of a monitor that has been damaged by it
(recently).

Of course, that doesn't mean you shouldn't take precautions.  Don't put
really stupid frequencies into your monitor and don't exceed the
horizontal sync specification for your monitor (it's okay to exceed the
vertical a little bit).  And be ready to hit control-alt-backspace when
you test your config if your monitor looks like it would rather be
somewhere else. 

IN other words: be careful but not paranoid.  :)
