Hello, I need help. I installed 8.0 and I want to connect to the internet with an isdn ta (Zyxel Omni Net LCD plus) using kppp (I use kde as window manager). THe problems are: - the connection works, but anytime I close kppp, I receive an error message like "KDEInit could not launch 'kppp'" (and while I'm connected, desktop icons desappear and come back only when I close kppp!). The weird thing is that this error occurs only when I run kppp from a desktop link, and never is running from the menu. (the error NEVER occurs if logged as root). - If I use gnome, when I try to set up an internet connection using the network administration tool, the system make me choose from a little list of isdn ta, and my ta doen't appear (most of popular isdn ta's are not listed). How can I use it?? Why it's not listed if with kppp works??
My last problem is about fonts: in some applications, sometimes I see little squares as characters, for example using ksirc under kde I see a little square beside my nickname (in a query window). In fact, in the character map, the first line of characters is all made by these little squares!! Note that I DID NOT change any fonts, the problem is on a just installed system.
