Hello,

I have a production server running version 7.3 of Red Hat that I would
like to update to version 8.0. Does anyone have any experience with
performing this type of upgrade?

What kind of issues did you experience?

I have a combination of applications installed via RPM as well as built
from source running on the server, which is part of the reason I am
concerned about the update.

I have a backup server that I recently rebuilt due to hardware failure
and I have installed Red Hat 8.0 on that machine. (It used to be our old
Windows NT 4.0 Domain Controller, the CPU got fried.) Anyway, after
getting Red Hat 8.0 up on it, I have found that I really like a great
deal of the new configuration tools and the performance feels snappier on
the system.

So, I am itching to update the main server. I just have little desire to
have all the services on it to cease to functioning, causing grief to
myself as all of my users get up in arms about losing access to things.
