Hi Brady modprobe returns an error as well...saying no device found... and dmesg show no errors...
/proc/interrupts does not even show the card... maybe i should just try using another NIC... -----Original Message----- From: ABrady [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, January 21, 2003 2:50 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: delaying etho initialization On Tue, 21 Jan 2003 19:49:16 +0100 "Go, Jeffrey" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > hello all > > I am getting this error despite doing an insmod 3c59x command.. > mod.conf states the alias of eth0 is pointing to this module. > i am running RH 7.2 > > > any thoughts? > > thanks 1. Does the command "lsmod" show the 3c59x module already installed? 2. If it isn't shown, have you tried "modprobe 3c59x" to try loading it? 3. Does /var/log/messages or /var/log/dmesg (or just the command "dmesg" show any errors associated with the card? 4. Does /proc/interrupts show the board? If this one fails, you'll need to check and make sure the board is seated. It could also indicate the board is bad. If the machine can't see it, there's nothing that will make in work. With versions up to 7.2 I've been able to shut down, remove the board, reboot, remove configuration, shut down, insert the board, reboot and configure networking with some success. With 7.2, 7.3, the 8.0 betas and 8.0 I've had luck running kudzu manually and configuring things. Unfortunately, this only worked when I had it shut off during boot and had new hardware. When it was already running at boot time, it wouldn't succeed at finding new hardware. I doubt this case fits yours, but if it does, you can try that as well. -- Secret hacker rule #11: hackers read manuals. -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?subject=unsubscribe https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?subject=unsubscribe https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
