You need to know whether you are using PPPOE. Most DSL providers use it these days, but there are two ways of doing it: 1) The DSL modem does it for you. In this case, just set your NIC up to get its IP address DNS, etc via DHCP. 2) You have to do the PPPOE on the PC. In this case, you need to have rp-pppoe installed and then you would set it up much as you outlined above (or you can use the command line tool adsl-setup). In this case, you must not set a static IP address unless one has been provided to you by your ISP. 192.168.0.100 will certainly not work in this case. In either case, it's best to not set a static IP address (except as noted in [2]) as either the modem will give you one (usually 10.0.0.x or 192.168.0.x) or your ISP will. If the modem assigns you one, you can statically assign a different one if you like, but it must be in the same subnet as the modem itself (i.e. if the modem is using 10.0.0.1 for itself and you use 192.168.0.100 for your PC, it won't work). -- Cliff Wells, Software Engineer Logiplex Corporation (www.logiplex.net) (503) 978-6726 x308 (800) 735-0555 x308 -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?subject=unsubscribe https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
