I'm sorry, perhaps I misunderstood. I thought you were looking for an
easy or proper way to create device entries in the /dev system.
Well, yes to a certain extent that's what I want. However, I also want to
know the proper way of automatically calling MAKEDEV or similar in order
to create devices when a new driver is installed or its hardware is
detected. Also, I'm a bit curious about how the /dev files actually got
created when installing the OS and/or configuring the system (especially
the ones not included in the "dev" package.)
As I've both used MAKEDEV, myself, and directed other people to do so, in
order to create missing devices (deleted or otherwise), this seemed, to
me, to be the right answer.
