I have a huge extended partition, hda4, on my system. I'd like to subdivide that partition, creating a large VFAT partition that both Windows and Linux can see as well as partitions for my home directory and for Apache.
My question is: since this partition isn't currently mounted at all and has no data on it at all, is it safe to use parted from my root account, or should I boot into Linux Rescue to make the changes with parted? -- Richard S.
