Isn't it?
We have installed Linux on a number of fairly ordinary machines and found that
whether or not the installation proceeds successfully is very much a matter of
apparently random chance. On some machines, everything works, while on others,
bits and pieces do not. Windows NT is said to be very finicky about hardware,
but it is the paragon of tolerance compared to Linux. Even once Linux has been
installed on a given computer, it will occasionally and not repeatably exhibit
anomalous behaviour. While no OS is totally free of such errors, some seem more
prone than others to this.
Considering the percentage of msgs in this forum pertaining to installation
failures and dysfunctionality, this premise hardly seems arguable.
Or, are we still operating on the assumption that Linux is immune from
criticism?
