I believe that last security exploit in wu-ftpd was the glob exploit. This affected ProFTP as well. Given that wu-ftpd is used a *lot* more than ProFTP and that there are no recent exploits to wu-ftpd, wu-ftpd is probably at least as secure as ProFTP.
