I can't remember if it was here or the Psyche list but in the past 3 days there was a thread on this exact issue. I believe their reasoning is that people will expect the equivalent amount of support for reiserfs or jfs as one would receive from Red Hat for ext3. Since their testing has shown some possible stability issues with those file systems they would rather not encourage the use of reiserfs or jfs. I do not speak for Red Hat, I just seem to recall seeing this on the lists in the past few days.
