Hello,

Unless you are trying to do something a bit out of the ordinary, 644 for
files and 755 for directories should work reasonably well.  But also make
sure that the owner / group permissions are set correctly, as configured in
your httpd.conf file.   This is especially critical should you elect  to go
with more restrictive permissions on the files and directories.   The later
can be an issue if your htdocs area is for instance accessible via samba,
and the samba setup is not set for world read permissions.
