- what do you mean with update over the net ?- how can i update that 7.2 System to RH8 WITHOUT "updateing" it from the cd ? the reason for this question is... when i ran up2date for that 7.2 system.. it said something about checking updates for RedHat 7.2... so i guess i just got a list of updates for RH 7.2.... is there a way to retrieve an upate to rh 8 this way ? (tweak up2date, that it reports that the actual system is rh 8 instead of rh 7.2 ? )
Nope. I've never heard it done, and it's certainly not supported. Upgrade from CD, the net, or some other supported mechanism.

This Firewall is a really customized one.. i just don't want do "update" from cd. Because for sure i would have a lot of packages installed which i don't really need !
Isn't there an "easier" way ?
