Right. Most people do enable imap, though, since the distribution webmail application (Squirrelmail) requires it. So thought I'd mention it.
And of course, to get pop, you have to install the imap package. Makes perfect sense :) If I were you, I'd install webmin and look at the sendmail settings with it. I bet something in relay domains or spam control leaps out at you. I configured sendmail for the first time, using webmin, in 5 minutes and had it working great.
