I'm looking for a good sniffer for Linux. I have just downloaded tcpdump and sniffit.
Are there any other sniffers I should look at?

I want to be able to analyze the types and percentages of data flowing across a
network. I need to know the network protocol DECNet, TCP/IP, Appletalk, etc. that is
on the net. I would also like to easliy determine the ports that both TCP and UDP
traffic is using and the percentages of these data. Which sniffer would be best
suited?

tcpdump appears to be cumbersome, based on a quick look. Are there additional tools
that could make this job easier? I looked at tcplook and tcptrace. tcptrace
doesn't seem to provide the type of data I would like. tcplook is a little better,
but it is kinda slow.

I realize that a real network analyzer would work, but I would like to use my laptop
and don't have the funds to purchase an analyzer.
