Subject: mounting filesystem with rescue floppies
I modified my inittab and now the system is unusable. :-(
I can start the machine using the two floppies I made from the RedHat4.2
CDROM.
But the /dev directory contains no drivers for the SCSI drive I need to
mount.
When I asked for an autoprobe of the SCSI bus during bootup, I see
"Scanning SCSI bus..." but I get no feedback regarding the results of the
scan. I'm given the opportunity to supply "module options", but it is
unclear what I should enter at that point. SCSI controller is Adaptec 2840.
Help?
Try starting up your system with the single option.
example: vmlinuz single
This will drop you in a root shell, with nothing loaded. Now try to restore
your inittab files.
