I'm trying to get my joystick to work under X. I installed the joystick
driver which seems to work (the 'js' program that comes with it can read
values from the /dev/js0 device). I seem to have some slight problem
with the 'jscal' program (I can't past the 'Verify Correction' message).
I added a "Joystick" subsection to the "XInput" section as dictated by
the man page but the X server bombs not recognizing the "Joystick"
section.
I found a reference to a Joystick module for XFree that is supposed to
come with it. Looking in /usr/X11/lib/modules, I see everything but the
joystick module (for instance, the Wacom and Summa modules are in
there). I am assuming that this is the problem but thought I would check
with someone who has actually gotten it running.
If it is indeed the problem, then they next thing is where I can get
this module. I don't want to have to download the whole XFree source
tree just to compile this one module. I am using the XFree86-3.3.2-5
package I got from Mike Wangsmo's home dir.
