I set up a home network just before Christmas, 2 Win95 boxes and
a Linux box with an ADSL connection.  There really isn't a single
how-to though, at least that I found.  All the pieces are documented
fairly well - check these out

Samba (for file & printer sharing) http://samba.anu.edu.au/samba/
IP Masquerade (Share an Internet connection) http://ipmasq.home.ml.org/
Linux Docs Homepage http://sunsite.unc.edu/LDP/ - this will have docs
for everything you need to do.  I've also found a lot of good stuff
