I set up a home network just before Christmas, 2 Win95 boxes and
a Linux box with an ADSL connection. There really isn't a single
how-to though, at least that I found. All the pieces are documented
fairly well - check these out
Samba (for file & printer sharing) http://samba.anu.edu.au/samba/
IP Masquerade (Share an Internet connection) http://ipmasq.home.ml.org/
Linux Docs Homepage http://sunsite.unc.edu/LDP/ - this will have docs
for everything you need to do. I've also found a lot of good stuff
on http://www.clark.net/pub/ray/
