If you plan on staying in the Un*x emvironment vi would be your best bet
to learn, haven't seen to many defaults installs with joe, jed, ted,
emacs, jove or any other text editor except ed. Linux doesn't even do this
for you.
As far as Novell, just run MARS-NWE. just like Novell for the most part...
