While Gimp may be much better, most current graphic designers (who do so
for a living) are stuck with having to use Photoshop at some point. My
girlfriend doesn't currently do this for a living but, she's woking with
it toward that end.
Using Mac emulation might be the best bet, assuming emulation actually
works well enough. Most emulators I've dealt with will work but, suffer
in almoste every area. Particularly speed, graphics emulation and the
ability to run many software items.
Downloading 0.99 at this moment to give it a whirl. Maybe I can find a
way to entice her to at least get interested.
