I have used Slackware in the past because I'm an OldTimer (tm), and
recently grabbed RedHat to see what all the fuss was about. I like RedHat
because it makes a good stab at sorting out the mess called Xwindows. I
like SlackWare because I'm a sysadmin by trade, and these RPM things strike
me as overated and inflexible. Also, I prefer not to have a modular kernel
(just cos I'm old fashioned really), and I loathe sysV init files!! (too
dang complicated).
If you want to run a Linux workstation, go RedHat. If you want to run a
complex server/web server and are already *nix competent, I find Slackware
nicer.
If you want more details puh-lease email me personally (to keep down list
traffic and avoid religious distribution wars :-)
