To install Linux on a DOS fs partition, you need to use UMSDOS - very few
distributions will let you install onto UMSDOS. UMSDOS is suboptimal,
anyways. 99% of the time you'll need a Linux type partition, formatted
with the second extended filesystem(which Linux uses),

Win95, as with most Microsoft operating systems, will throw a serious
temper-tantrum if it's not on the first partition of the first drive.

I don't know how well Netware treats other OSes on the same computer.

Well, that should be pretty easy - the partition for Linux will be type
82. Though, I wouldn't sandwich the Netware partition between the Linux
and Win95 data partitions, IMHO you'll be much better off to get them
setup then give the end of the drive to Netware.

Hmm... That's odd, because I have Linux on a slave HD right here on this
computer and it works fine. I'm certain it doesn't have trouble getting
at drives on the secondary controller, either.

Yes, Linux's fdisk. Don't worry, it'll automatically be run during the
install process, as will mke2fs to format the partition.

I don't know how well it'll handle other OSes being there. Remember,
Netware sets up a couple of it's own format partitions to store the data.
