Hope you don't mind. Here's what I did. First download: ghostscript-5.10-4.i386.rpm ghostscript-fonts-5.10-1.i386.rpm ghostscript-fonts-other-5.10-1.i386.rpm ghostscript-fonts-other-5.10-4.noarch.rpm ghostscript-fonts-std-5.10-4.noarch.rpm I think I got them from /contrib from the Red Hat ftp server some time ago. I installed them using rpm -i not rpm -Uvh. I don't know why I installed them with the -i option, I just did it that way without thinking. I also don't have a clue if or why there isn't a ghostscript-fonts-5.10-4.i386.rpm,. I couldn't find it so that's why I also installed the 5.10-1.i386.rpms. It wont hurt anything or conflict with anything either. After you install these rpms go to /usr/lib/rhs/rhs-printfilters/printerdb and edit it by adding the below text to the bottom of the printerdb file: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ # # Unified Printer Driver # StartEntry: Uniprint GSDriver: uniprint Description: {Unified Printer Driver} About: { \ This driver provides support for several printers.\ For full details on its use see the file devices.txt.\n\ To use this driver you must enter the name of the correct\ upp file in the "Extra GS options" box.\n\n\ E.g. to get an Epson Stylus Color 600 to print at:\n\n\ 360dpi use: @/usr/share/ghostscript/5.10/stc600pl.upp\n\n\ 720dpi use: @/usr/share/ghostscript/5.10/stc600p.upp\n\n\ 1440dpi use: @/usr/share/ghostscript/5.10/stc600ih.upp\ } Resolution: {360} {360} {plain paper} Resolution: {720} {720} {plain paper} Resolution: {1440} {720} {inkjet paper} EndEntry ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Then when you open up the printer setup tool in control panel you'll see a new entry for the "Unified Printer Driver" Select it, and add in the options box in the lower right: @/usr/share/ghostscript/5.10/stc2.upp for 360x360 32Bit CMYK 20pin , or @/usr/share/ghostscript/5.10/stc2_h.upp for 720x720 32Bit CMYK 20pin or for any stylus @/usr/share/ghostscript/5.10/stcany.upp for 360x360 4Bit Postscript-Halftoning One could also setup other models of the Epson series with this same driver. Most notably the 500 and 600 series, although there may well be others too. Read the readme's etc. under /usr/doc/ghostscript-5.10 they will tell you much more than I have here. But if your running an Epson Stylus Color IIs with Red Hat 5.0 and follow these steps you'll print decent quality 360x360 res. color with this printer. If you use the good paper you can get very good results with the stc2_h.upp at 720x720. All this from a fine inexpensive, admittedly slow printer.
