With 4x speed CD-ROM drives running about $25 and floppy drives costing
about $5 at the computer show, you could add them fairly easily. For the
price of a little gasoline, 2 hours of your time, and $30, this sounds
like the easiest method.
For the sake of discussion, however...
Would it be possible to remove the harddrives from your working machine
and replace them with the drives from the second machine, install, then
swap the drives back?
Please don't consider this a knowledgable recommendation, as I certainly
wouldn't do this with any of my machines if I couldn't stand to loose
them. I'm sure others will say this approach isn't possible, or something.
