What screen resolution are you using?  The Megabytes of video RAM needed
can be approximated using the formula:

(Vert Resolution) X (Horz Resolution) X (bits/pixel) / 8388608

So an 1024 X 768 screen at 8 bits per pixel would require 

1024 X 768 X 8/8388608 == 0.78 Meg

If you are operating at 1024 X 768 you should be able to get 8 bbp which
is enough for almost everything Netscape can do.
