Here's one option to try:

/etc/lilo.conf

append="mem=128M"
boot=/dev/sda
linear
read-only
prompt
timeout=100

image = /vmlinuz
root = /dev/sda1
label = l
-----------------------------------------

Customize as needed, it's the line append="mem=128M" that you need.
