1st: i had the same problem (some time ago) and it was a memory related problem; try
to compile
the kernel several times and see if the compiler crashes; if it does than change your
memory
2nd: since you are trying to mount a cdrom, your kernel has to support it's
filesystem; recompile
the kernel including iso9660 support, reboot and it should work :)
