hmm, I have the same problem of slow mail retrieval expecially after
singnet 'upgraded' their server. I started using tcpdump a week ago and
was surprised to find that my set was doing dns lookups like crazy during
mail download, which I assume is what caused the tardiness.

I have just looked at man and /us/doc/fetchmail-2.2-2/ documents and there
is no mention of an 'no dns' option. So I would be very grateful if
someone could answer these 2 questions

1:- why should the set be doing dns lookups during mail downloads
2:- where did that 'no dns' come from?

I am getting very nervous - there are lines describing dns lookups now in
/var/log/messages, also just a few hours ago, I could not download mail
until I rebooted.

thanks
