Whenever I've recieved a signal 13 during an install, it signalled flakey
hardware.

I'd start with the memory. That's the most common cause of a signal 13
problem. If you're running a 66mhz chipset at 75mhz, such as e.g. for a
Cyrix 6x86P200, you may need to ramp down the memory timings. Otherwise,
I'd look for a bad memory chip.
