wmppp, asmodem, TKNet (or something like that).  Search
road-kill.freshmeat.net (/appindex?mode=category&item=X-Apps) and/or
sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux (/system/network/serial/!INDEX.html).
This should get you started.  I prefer wmpp YMMV.
