Check that you have read permission for all the pixmaps you unpacked
from WindowMaker-data.
Some versions of this do not have read permission for the pixmap used
by the fiend (aka the clip) (ie. ../WindowMaker-data/pixmaps/clip.xpm
is not readable) which cans cause WMaker to crash (although, IIRCC,
it usually appears to start correctly before crashing).
Running `chmod oug+r *' (as root) in the WindowMaker-data/pixmaps
directory will fix this particular problem.
If you still have problems, it may be worth building WMaker from
source. I have had no problems with 0.14.1, built from the original
tarball, under both RH5 and RH4.2.
