Well, obviously which one you need depends on what you are going to do
with it. My personal preference is domain sockets, because they are
efficient, don't tie up much in the way of system resources, and provide a
good straightforward connection. But maybe you need the flexibility that
comes with shared memory. And a TCP connection gives you network
transparency if you need it and is really the only choice for that.
