I agree with your frustration with hypertext documents used for learning!
What I did was to download the Postscript version of the Database-HOWTO
(dealing exclusively with PostgreSQL--see "Re: PostgreSQL documentation,
where ?" elsewhere on this list), and output it double-sided (duplexed) on
three-hole drilled paper and put the whole thing in a binder.  Presto!
Instant book!  Of course, I have the luxury of a 180ppm digital printer
here at our plant (we do all kinds of printing), but you could get the
same results if you take the file to a copy store--they'll probably even
bind it for you (we have Kinko's et al. here in the 'States).  It
*is* a very long doc (273 pages), so I would encourage you to find a
duplexer somewhere!
