I'm running Microstation under Redhat 5.x. I've been using this very cheapo 2 button Logitech mouse and, till now, it's done the job. This question is being posted here because I'm specifically concerned with the behavior using Linux mouse drivers. My problem is that my cheapo mouse does not emulate a 3rd button, and this is necessary for Microstation. I need some info before replacing it. I have PS2 ports available on my motherboards, and serial ports free, so I'd rather stick to one of those types. I have 3 questions. 1. Does a Microsoft 2 button serial mouse (or any serial mouse) correctly emulate 3 buttons (under Linux)? I believe that this means you get 3rd button functionality by pressing 2 buttons at once (within some small increment of time). Yes, I have the switch set in my X config file, but this has no effect. I believe the mouse has to be capable. 2. Will any 3 button mouse work as a 3 button mouse on the PS2 mouse port? In other words, will the PS2 port accept any 3 button mice and are any available. 3. Will any 2 button PS2 mouse correctly emulate a 3 button mouse on the PS2 port? 4. Does anyone know of a 3 button serial mouse they have had good luck with that has drivers available for Linux. I don't believe Logitech make a 3 button serial mouse. Any personal experience would be appreciated and please, name brand names and configuration issues. Thank you. \\ ~ ~ // ( @ @ ) ===============-oOOo-(_)-oOOo-================== Red Hat Linux! Where I really went today!
