You need to make sure you have a 'guest' account (or 'pcguest', or
whatever the guest account has been defined in 'smb.conf' is) created.
Check your /etc/passwd to ensure the account has been defined.

If this has been done, check the password level.  If it is set too high,
you might also see this problem (or related ones).  My 'password level =
3' which suits me just fine.
