Hello!

I am trying to set up an HP 722c on a machine running Redhat 5.1. I think
I've setup all the configuration files correctly, put I still don't get a
printed page out. Here is my /etc/printcap file:

# /etc/printcap
#
# Please don't edit this file directly unless you know what you are doing!
# Be warned that the control-panel printtool requires a very strict format!
# Look at the printcap(5) man page for more info.
#
# This file can be edited with the printtool in the control-panel.

##PRINTTOOL3## LOCAL
lp:\
        :sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp:\
        :mx#0:\
        :lf=/var/log/lpd-errors:\
        :sh:\
        :lp=/dev/lp1:

I think everything is in order. I've tried /dev/lp0 and /dev/lp2 also.
tunelp /dev/lp1 -s gives the following:

        /dev/lp1 status is 223, on-line

An lpc status gives:

        lp:
                queuing is enabled
                printing is enabled
                no entries
                no daemon present

What does "no daemon present" mean? I checked and lpd is running. If I try
to print using lpr, lpq does show something in the queue, only it doesn't
show up at the printer, but vanishes after a few seconds.

Any help?

Hasan.
