If I am logged into a linux box under a virt. term. and telnet 
somewhere...the first prompt i get is "I dont recognize term type 
Linux...what terminal are you using?"

I type "VT100" ...just to type something it knows..unfortunately after that 
backspace, arrows etc do not work at the command line.  In pico (on the 
remote machine), backspace and arrows act normally ...however not at the 
command line

any hint as to what is wrong?  what do i have to tell the remote program 
that I am using?
