I'm running rh5.0 with most of the updates. I've been running the 2.0.32 kernel from the RPM on RH's site. I'd really like to have FAT32 support so I can steal some harddrive space from Windows and to ease some work that I do under both environments. I DL'd the generic 2.0.34 source and built a kernel with it that worked but was flakey in some ways... some things hung some of the time... such as ifconfig. So I got the source RPM for 2.0.32 and applied the "Joliet/FAT32" patch to them. Patch complained about the "namei.c" (think that's right) file, but the web site said that was OK. I configured and built the kernel. During build there were lots of "vfat_blah redefined warnings" and when I boot it, I get lots of unresolved symbol errors... argh. Can anyone give me a procedure to either patch, upgrade, cuss the kernel into what I want? Oh, one side note here, I'd been having dropped packets on PPP that went away with the 2.0.34 kernel... I think that was from the IP Frag option so I am interested in a custom kernel. One more thing, what's an fstab entry for FAT32 look like? Thanks for any help or new cuss words. Oh and puleez don't mention the kernel HOWTO, it's caused me grief already. One more thing, again, I don't use lilo, I boot linux with loadlin from a windows shortcut. -- ____ | _ \ ___ _ _ __ _ | | | |/ _ \| | | |/ _` | [EMAIL PROTECTED] | |_| | (_) | |_| | (_| | [EMAIL PROTECTED] |____/ \___/ \__,_|\__, | [EMAIL PROTECTED] |___/ -- PLEASE read the Red Hat FAQ, Tips, Errata and the MAILING LIST ARCHIVES! http://www.redhat.com/RedHat-FAQ /RedHat-Errata /RedHat-Tips /mailing-lists To unsubscribe: mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe" as the Subject.
