Hi fellow RedHatters,
I have a dual processor capable Pentium Pro motherboard, and have just
ordered a 2nd P-Pro to fill it (for $94 how could I pass it up!). I have
been running RH5.0 problem free since it was released last December.
I've also just ordered RH5.1, and my plan is to install the 2nd
processor and upgrade to 5.1 at the same time. My question is, will a
standard RPM install of RH5.1 detect the 2nd processor, and give me a
2.0.34 kernel optimized for SMP, or do I need to hand build my kernel
for maximum performance? Or, do I need to use the latest experimental
kernel (2.1.102? now , I believe), since these kernels are advertised as
having vastly improved SMP performance?
