I am running RedHat 4.2 Linux.
I have 96 MB of Memory on a Pentium Pro 180MHz.
I have never had a problem myself, or been able to recreate the situation,
but a number of my users (with Macs, Win3.1, and possibly Win95) have
trouble retrieving their mail when a large message or attachment (usually
150K or larger) is first in their mailbox.
This is the message in my log file (edited for privacy):
Jun 1 05:08:45 <servername> in.qpopper.2.4[23824]: <username>@ts323: -ERR
POP hangup
Jun 1 05:08:45 <servername> in.qpopper.2.4[23824]: Stats: <username> 0 0
2 218997
Originally I thought this was a timeout issue, so I changed inetd.conf
from:
pop-3 stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd in.qpopper -s
to:
pop-3 stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd in.qpopper.2.4 -s
-T 300
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
