It seems I keep changing the question before I get an answer. I have my
xterms back. I did it by sym linking the library referenced in the error
message to another one as follows:

[root@ozenfant ppp]# ln -s /usr/X11R6/lib/libXt.so.6.0
/usr/i486-linux-libc5/lib/libXt.so.6.0

I am pretty sure the /usr/X11R6 library is from the recently upgraded
XFree86 3.3.2. My question is now should I leave it as a link or should I
just replace the one file with the other? Actually the link is linked to
another link. I don't want to make a mess of this Linux installation even
if it does seem to work. Please advise me how to keep this in order.
